WHAT's NEW
[Top (page index)] [Up] [Down] [Bottom (site index)]What's new on this web page?
If you see the date changing on this page, without an announcement in this section, it is probably something like fixing minor coding problems, spelling errors, minor layout changes, new page on this site (so I changed bottom index), ... Any major changes to this page, will be announced here.
June 4, 2008 A recent visitor to this site was at the show on December 31, 1983 at the Starlight Roller Rink in North Hollywood, CA. He remembers that someone there was shooting video, and wonders if the video is available. He would like to be able to see himself stage diving when he was much younger. If you can help, contact me at Chrome Oxide.
October 2, 2007. A recent visitor to this site was at the show on June 24, 1983 at Longshoreman's Hall, Wilmington. He wants to know if that show was recorded, and if he can get a copy. If you can help, contact me at Chrome Oxide.
July 18, 2005. I just noticed that the ezBoard message board that I had set up for this web site had been deleted. Since restoration of the deleted conference is only available to subscribers to their service, and since the activity was relatively light, I not planning on looking for another message board. If you do think a message board is worth while, or you have a message board that you like, let me know and I may promote it here. As always you can contact me here.
August 9, 2004. I finally picked up a couople of recent releases of Dead Kennedy's Material. Live At The Deaf Club is a complete show from March 3, 1979. This was the last show that 6025 play with the band. Mutiny On The Bay is a compilation of performances from 4 different nights.
September 30, 2001. A visitor to this site who is a major Dead Kennedys collector, informed of about 100 live shows I didn't have on my list. Thanks.
September 4, 2001. I started creating this page. :-)
DEAD KENNEDYS
INTRO:
[Top (page index)] [Up] [Down] [Bottom (site index)]The Dead Kennedys, were a punk band from San Francisco, CA, in the late 1970s, that only lasted to the mid 1980s. They even took a few years off in the early 1980s to work on other projects. But when they came back in the mid 1980s, they only managed a couple more albums before they were involved in a lawsuit which took all their time, money and energy. So, even though they they won the lawsuit, the band broke up. So much for freedom of speech (only available if you can afford to defend yourself).
Their music was played at slightly slower than typical punk speed (making the songs much more interesting that the typical punk song). Their lyrics were very topical (sarcastic commentary on the world around them). And when you add the singers' unique vocals, and you had a band that was considered America's answer to Englands Sex Pistols.
Comments and corrections would be appreciated.
And of course, any audio-video-print additions to my collection would be appreciated.
I am also interested in getting wider exposure for this site. So links from your site to mine would be appreciated. And if you know of any sites that allow/encourage submission, I would also appreciate knowing about them as well.
Do you have any articles, books, albums, tapes, CDs, ... on this band that you would like reviewed and / or integrated into this page?
Do you have any other band that you would like to see a page for on this site?

Back in October 1999 I put up links to CD-Now so that visitors could easily link to the related band pages and instantly see which items were still in print/available for purchase. CD-Now no longer has that option. For the moment I am putting in Amazon.com search boxes. Amazon.com doesn't easily allow for links to individual band pages in the same way that CD-Now used to. So, instead of me being able to create direct links, I have put up the Amazon.com search box instead. So you can still go to a page with the various bands products, buy you now need to go through a search box.As always, let me know what you think.
